RapidSand^® PAC Clarifier

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

The RapidSand^® PAC clarifier is a multifunctional high-rate clarifier technology that combines powdered activated carbon (PAC) adsorption capacity, solids recirculation, ballast addition, sludge thickening and sludge dewatering in a single unit to enhance setting rates, to increase the performance of treated water  and to save the footprint.

The microsand introduced when flocculation is taking place to reach the fastest sedimentation rate, and the sludge produced at the hydrocyclone overflow is sent to sludge thickening, the supernatant is returned to the flocculation, and the thickened sludge is pumped to sludge dewatering.

PAC is used in this process to remove TOC, DBPs, and it is also effective in the removal of pharmaceuticals, personal care products(PPCPs), pesticides, odors and color, and endocrine-disrupting compounds.
